The European Business Angels Network (EBAN) is a global network of early-stage investors, gathering +100 members in 53 countries including business angels, business angel networks, business angel federations, early-stage funds, business accelerators, and electronic funding platforms. Since its inception in 1999, EBAN has demonstrated commitment to developing capacity, knowledge, and experience in the context of financing early-stage ventures, especially angel investment, investment in innovative companies, support of entrepreneurship, and startup growth. Recent market research reports that angel investing accounts for more than two-thirds of private investments made into early-stage SMEs and start-ups, with the European business angel market representing a cumulative annual investment of nearly 8 billion Euros. The investment activity in our network is essential to finance innovation and bring it to the market, ultimately creating jobs, and driving economic growth and societal well-being. EBAN’s main five pillars of activity are:

EBAN is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to join our team in Brussels in the role of Event and Community Manager. We are offering the unique opportunity to join a highly visible and fast-growing organisation by directly contributing to the organization of a range of high-profile events, (in-person, hybrid and virtual), intended for large audiences. Furthermore, you will also be working with a wide range of association stakeholders, including member organizations, individual investors; sponsors and partners, to engage the EBAN community of stakeholders within our association’s activities, which include events as well as other networking or knowledge sharing related activities.

 

Your role

The role requires a proactive individual with energy and focus, able to take ownership of his/her tasks and multitask. The ideal candidate has experience in running events with startups and investors, is passionate about innovation, entrepreneurship, and early-stage investment, enjoys interacting with multiple international actors both online and offline, and has good organizational skills as well as oral and written communication skills.

Your tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Event Management, working under the supervision of the Director General in alignment with the communication strategy
  • Development and production of complex events from A to Z with the support of the communications team
  • You will also have the opportunity to be not only the events organiser but also a moderator and presenter and be on stage when and if required to drive the event
  • You will identify suppliers (venues, hotels, AV, catering, events platforms, logistics, etc.)
  • Managing the suppliers and event staff to set up the event and the event hostesses during onsite events
  • Managing large volumes of confidential data
  • Working with internal stakeholders to manage the invitation list
  • Coordinating with the speakers to manage their presentations
  • Working with the partners to manage their event benefits
  • Briefing the moderators and the AV before and during the event regarding the agenda
  • Overseeing and tracking event budgets
  • You will play a fundamental role in animating the community of EBAN Members, and individual investors associated with the members.
  • You will liaise and involve association members for their inputs and contributions within the events, member committees and sector/tech focused communities
  • You will liaise with event partners and event partners to manage their contributions for the event

 

Requirements

Available for a full-time role (i.e. 38 hours a week), starting ideally July 2023.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in organising events, in-person, hybrid and virtual Written and spoken English and French proficiency
  • You delivered a high volume of successful events, working on multiple events and activities simultaneously
  • Experience in managing event platforms for the delivery of hybrid or online events
  • Experience with CRMs and Email Marketing Systems
  • Experience in budget management
  • Administration skills, including Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Understanding the changing events industry landscape, technical and production approach, open to identifying new ways of working to recommend improvements and adjustments to current events, planning and processes
  • EU travelling and possibly internationally required regularly

  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with good organizational skills
