The European Business Angels Network (EBAN) is the European trade association of early-stage
investors, uniting 130+ member organisations across 50+ countries, including business angels,
networks, federations, early-stage funds, accelerators, and funding platforms. Since 1999, EBAN has
represented their interests, facilitating angel investment, innovation support, and startup growth
across the continent. Angel investing represents over two-thirds of private investments in early-
stage SMEs and startups, with the European market contributing nearly €8 billion annually in
cumulative investments. Our work fuels innovation, job creation, and economic growth across the
EU.

The Role

Reporting to the Secretary General, the Finance Manager is responsible for the day-to-day financial
health of the organisation and for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting across
both EBAN’s core operations and its EU-funded projects.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting
● Own the annual financial year closing process and coordinate with EBAN’s external accountants and
auditors to produce and finalise annual accounts.
● Manage day-to-day bookkeeping: sales (membership fees, sponsorships, events), purchases, and
expense processing.
● Prepare the annual forecast update and mid-year review for the Treasurer and Board, covering both
EBAN core and EU project revenues and costs.
● Maintain the bad debt provision and holiday pay provision processes.

Compliance & Audit

● Coordinate quarterly VAT filings with EBAN’s accounting firm.
● Prepare documentation for and manage the annual external audit.
● Support statutory and governance filings (Moniteur Belge, KBO/BCE, UBO register) in coordination
with the Board.

EU Project Financial Management

● Manage budgeting, financial reporting, and cash flow tracking across EBAN’s portfolio of EU-funded
projects (Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020, Erasmus+ and others).
● Oversee timesheet compliance, staff cost allocation, and financial reporting submissions via the EU
Funding & Tenders / LEAR portal.
● Liaise with project coordinators and partners on financial reporting requirements and audits.

Payments, Payroll &Operations

● Manage purchasing, payment processing, and vendor relationships (including payroll coordination
with EBAN’s payroll provider).
● Support the financial operations of EBAN’s flagship events (Congress, EAIS), including sponsorship
and ticket invoicing and event budget tracking.

Day-to-Day Office Administration
● Act as the day-to-day office administrator for EBAN’s Brussels HQ, keeping the office running
smoothly for the whole team.
● Manage recurring office purchasing and supplier relationships
● Administer core admin tools and subscriptions and coordinate with IT/web service providers as
needed.
● Manage the employee insurance portal and other HR-adjacent administrative platforms, and share
relevant HR documents (e.g. payslips) with team members in coordination with the payroll provider.
● Maintain hard drive/data backups and handle general office logistics (courier/print services, meeting
room bookings, incoming mail and deliveries).
● Schedule and support Board and Executive Committee meetings, including logistics and minute-
taking as needed.

Candidate Profile Requirements
● A degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
● Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role, ideally including exposure to EU grant/project
financial reporting
● Strong working knowledge of Belgian accounting and VAT requirements, or the ability to get up to
speed quickly.
● Excellent attention to detail and comfort managing multiple deadlines across accounting, audit, and
grant-reporting cycles.
● Excellent verbal and written command of English; basic knowledge of French is preferred.
● Belgian national accountant certificate (IAB/ITAA) or ACCA qualification is a plus.
● Comfortable working independently in a small, international non-profit environment.
