Sophia Business Angels Celebrate a Great Autumn Venture Academy in Sophia Antipolis, Nice
On 26 October 2017, Sophia Business Angels (SBA) organised its traditional bi-yearly Venture Academy with 15 startups and 40+ international business angels, mentors, and investors from across Europe.
In the world of Business Angels and private investors, the SBA stands out for its international approach to innovation and entrepreneurship, its cross-border investments, and its multi-national membership which counts 6 nationalities among its 35+ individual members and corporate member Gordon Blair from Monaco. It truly reflects the vision of its Honorary President, Senator Pierre Laffitte, the founder of Sophia Antipolis and President of the Fondation Sophia Antipolis.
The SBA also held their traditional two Spring and Autumn flagship International Venture Academies and Start-Up Factories this year featuring 49 companies from more than 10 countries, 6 of which have already received funding from the SBA and more to come.

At the Annual General Assembly in 2017 the SBA also elected a new board of directors, composed of 9 members reflecting a healthy rotation of new and old members:
