NAREC Capital
EBAN and NAREC Capital are delighted to announce a brand new annual
partnership aimed at improving access to finance for European start-ups
in the field of renewable energy as well as executing investor readiness
in this growing sector. The partnership was unveiled for the first time
at EBAN’s 11th Annual Congress in Warsaw, attended by some 400
representatives from the early stage investment market from 37 countries
worldwide.
NAREC Capital is the result of a joint partnership between NAREC, a UK government global centre of excellence for offshore wind, wave and tidal development; and Ashberg, a multi-family office with an international focus on servicing high growth companies within the impact investment sector. NAREC Capital has been established to provide NAREC with the necessary competencies and framework to enable sustainable commercial operations.
NAREC CAPITAL has prime responsibility for unlocking access to finance
for companies in the renewable energy sector through reducing risk and
identifying those investors with an appetite for such early stage
renewable opportunities. Its four components (Consulting, Insurance,
Corporate Finance and Asset Management) have been designed with this in
mind and look to fully leverage Narec’s intellectual and tangible
assets. Narec Capital provides commercial focus, unlocks private sector
funding, coordinates the multiple parties involved and accelerates
decision making. Narec Capital’s success will create new jobs and
export-led growth, that will demonstrate the benefits of public to
private led development and help to reset the financial/manufacturing
imbalance across the UK.
“Our aim is to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy technologies, however this sector is experiencing an acute equity gap as public funding withdraws and the capital markets are not prepared to undertake the risk of early stage investment. By linking NARC’s ability to test, validate and accredit new technologies with an informed investment community such as EBAN’s, we will seek to reduce the equity gap and accelerate this evolving industry” says Jerry Biggs, CEO of NAREC Capital.
Both EBAN and NAREC Capital are committed to bridging the equity gap for young, innovative companies in Europe and beyond. “Renewable energy has become a key sector of attention for the European early stage investors in the last years. Doing good while doing well is an objective that can change the world in a sustainable manner. Our partnership with NAREC Capital will provide support in qualifying deal flow in the renewable energy sector and provide much needed technical expertise and global outreach for investee companies” says Brigitte Baumann, President of EBAN.
NAREC Capital is looking through its European partnership with EBAN to:
- Increase its reach into the community of innovative renewable energy start-up companies Europe-wide which are looking for funding from early stage equity investors;
- Increase its reach into the European early stage investment community, including mentoring new investors and source funding for target start-ups;
- Support entrepreneurship within the renewable energy sector to become renowned worldwide as a leading centre for advancing the development and integration of renewable energy through technology-led innovation.
